Mahone Bay Tourism & Chamber of Commerce
Six years and four generations of the digital front door for the Best Small Town in Canada.

The challenge
Mahone Bay’s website serves two audiences at once. Visitors want to plan a trip, and member businesses want to be found.
A small team and volunteers keep it running, so it has to be easy to manage. It also has to keep pace with a town that changes every season, from the Scarecrow Festival to the Season of Father Christmas.
What we did
- 01
Built and ran the site since 2020 across four generations. Each platform fit where the Chamber was at the time, and each version built on what the last one taught us.
- 02
Created a living hub: trip planning, Eat, Stay, Shop and Experience guides, an events calendar and a member directory.
- 03
Built the fourth generation on Astro and Netlify with a 22-page sitemap, a fresh visual identity built on the town’s “Best Small Town in Canada” positioning, and full accessibility standards.
- 04
Turned the business directory into an interactive map. All 70 member businesses are researched, verified and pinned, so visitors can see exactly where to go.
- 05
Support the Chamber’s wider work: member communications, grant applications and research such as the short-term rental levy analysis for Lunenburg County municipalities.
The result
Mahone Bay has had one steady digital partner for six years. Every generation of the site has grown with the Chamber’s membership and the town’s reputation.
